Dryer repair in Akron & Summit County, OH

Tumbling but not heating, not tumbling, taking forever to dry, squealing, or won't start? We come to your laundry room anywhere in Summit County and most of the time finish the repair on the same visit. Gas and electric, both.

Symptoms we see most

  • Tumbling but no heat (heating element, igniter, thermal fuse, or thermostat)
  • Heating but not tumbling (drum belt, motor, or idler pulley)
  • Won't start at all (door switch, thermal fuse, or start switch)
  • Loud squealing or grinding (drum rollers, idler pulley, or rear bearing)
  • Taking 2+ cycles to dry a normal load (restricted airflow — usually the in-machine duct or external vent)
  • Burning smell (lint buildup near the heating element — clean and inspect)
  • Stops mid-cycle (cycling thermostat, thermal fuse, or moisture sensor)
  • Drum is stationary while motor runs (broken drum belt)

Brands and types we repair

Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, GE, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Speed Queen, Amana. Front-load and top-load. Gas, electric, and ventless heat-pump dryers (the latter mostly in newer Akron condos and townhomes).

What you pay

$89 flat diagnostic anywhere in Summit County, credited toward the repair if you book it. No charge if the dryer isn't worth fixing.

How long it takes

Diagnostic: 15–20 minutes. Most repairs (heating element, igniter, thermal fuse, belt, rollers, idler): 45–75 minutes. Motor replacement: 90 minutes.

A note on dryer vents and fires

About 30% of "my dryer takes too long" calls in Summit County are actually clogged-vent issues, not dryer failures. The dryer is fine; the vent run from the dryer to the outside of the house is half-blocked with lint. Lint is flammable. Restricted airflow + a hot heating element is the standard recipe for a dryer fire. If your dryer is taking three cycles, get the vent cleaned — by us or anyone — before it becomes a bigger problem.

Service area

Common questions

How much does dryer repair cost in Akron?
Most dryer repairs run $150–$320 all-in. Heating element on an electric dryer ($170–$240). Igniter on a gas dryer ($180–$260). Thermal fuse ($140–$190). Drum belt ($160–$220). Idler pulley or drum rollers ($170–$240). Motor replacement ($300–$450) is the point where we usually recommend replacing the machine if it's 8+ years old.
Dryer is tumbling but not heating. What is that?
On an electric dryer: heating element (most common), thermal fuse, or thermostat. On a gas dryer: igniter (most common), flame sensor, or gas valve coils. We carry all of these parts on the truck for the common Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, and Samsung models.
Why is one load taking three cycles to dry?
Almost always restricted airflow. Either the dryer vent is clogged with lint (your house — not the dryer), or the inside-the-dryer ductwork between the drum and the vent is partially blocked. We check the in-machine path; the wall vent we'll diagnose but cleaning it is a separate service. Restricted airflow is also the leading cause of dryer fires, so don't ignore it.
Dryer is squealing. Bad bearings?
Usually drum rollers or the idler pulley. Both are wear parts on most dryers — every 7–10 years they need replacing. We do them as a kit, since if one is bad the others aren't far behind.
Gas vs. electric — does it matter to you?
We service both. Gas dryers need a tech who's comfortable working with the gas valve, igniter, and flame sensor; not all repair guys are. Most of Akron is on natural gas so we see plenty of gas dryers.
