Microwave repair in Akron & Summit County, OH

Over-the-range or built-in microwave not heating, not turning on, door latch broken, panel unresponsive, or sparking inside the cavity? We come to your kitchen, diagnose, and most of the time finish the repair the same visit.

What we service

Over-the-range microwaves and built-in microwave-convection ovens. We do not service standalone countertop microwaves — at $120–$200 retail for a new one, the math almost never makes sense to repair.

Symptoms we see most

  • Runs but doesn't heat (magnetron, high-voltage diode, or capacitor)
  • Doesn't turn on at all (door switches, line fuse, or control board)
  • Turntable not spinning (motor or coupler)
  • Door latch broken or won't close fully (latch assembly or door switch)
  • Panel buttons unresponsive (touchpad or control board)
  • Sparks inside the cavity (waveguide cover or burned-on residue)
  • Loud humming when running (magnetron or fan motor)
  • Vent fan not working (fan motor or grease filter blockage)

Brands we repair

Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, GE, GE Profile, GE Cafe, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Sharp, Panasonic, Bosch. Higher-end built-in convection units: Wolf, Thermador, Monogram.

A safety note

Microwave high-voltage capacitors hold a lethal charge even when the unit is unplugged. Don't open the chassis yourself — that's not a "be careful" warning, that's a "this kills people every year" warning. Call a tech.

Service area

Same-day in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Tallmadge, and Fairlawn. Full service area.

Common questions

Do you fix countertop microwaves?
No. Countertop units are almost always cheaper to replace than to repair — by the time you pay the diagnostic + parts + labor on a $120 microwave, you've spent more than a new one. We service over-the-range and built-in microwave units only.
How much does over-the-range microwave repair cost?
Most repairs run $180–$340 all-in. Door switch ($150–$210) is the most common. Magnetron ($230–$330) and high-voltage diode ($180–$250) are next. Control board ($280–$420) — usually only worth it on a higher-end built-in.
Microwave runs but doesn't heat — is that the magnetron?
Most often, yes — or the high-voltage diode that feeds it. Both are inside the high-voltage section, which holds a charge even unplugged. Don't open it yourself; call a tech.
Door latch broken — replaceable?
Yes. Door latches and door switches are common wear items. Microwaves have three or four interlock switches; if any one fails, the unit either won't run or runs continuously regardless of door position. We diagnose which.
Sparks inside the cavity?
Stop using it. Sparks usually mean a worn waveguide cover (cardboard-looking piece on the side wall) or food residue burned onto the cavity. Both are repairable. Don't run it until we look.
