Refrigerator repair in Akron & Summit County, OH

Fridge not cooling, freezer warm, ice maker dead, water on the floor, or making a noise it shouldn't? We come to your kitchen anywhere in Summit County, diagnose it, and most of the time finish the repair on the same visit.

Symptoms we see most

  • Fridge warm, freezer still cold (evaporator fan or defrost system)
  • Both compartments warm, compressor running (sealed-system or compressor failure)
  • Both warm, compressor not running (start relay, overload, or compressor)
  • Ice maker not making ice (water inlet valve, ice maker module, or water line)
  • Water leaking onto the floor (defrost drain frozen, water line, or drain pan)
  • Loud humming, clicking, or grinding (condenser fan motor, evaporator fan, or compressor)
  • Frost building up in the freezer (defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or door seal)
  • Door not sealing — gasket replacement

Brands we repair

Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, GE, GE Profile, GE Cafe, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Kenmore, Amana, Hotpoint, Bosch. High-end built-ins: Sub-Zero, Viking, Thermador, Monogram, JennAir. We service French-door, side-by-side, top-freezer, bottom-freezer, counter-depth, and built-in column refrigerators.

What you pay

$89 flat diagnostic, anywhere in Summit County. If you book the repair, the $89 is credited toward the bill — you don't pay it twice. If we take it apart and the repair isn't worth doing on a fridge that age, we tell you straight, and there's no charge for the visit.

How long it takes

Diagnostic: 15–30 minutes. Most common repairs (fan motors, defrost components, water valves, ice makers, gaskets): 45–90 minutes once we're on site with the part. Sealed-system work (compressor, evaporator coil, refrigerant): 2–4 hours, scheduled as a return visit.

Service area

Same-day in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Tallmadge, and Fairlawn. Outlying parts of Summit County (Hudson, Green, Mogadore, Norton) usually next-day. Full service area list.

Common questions

How much does refrigerator repair cost in Akron?
Most repairs run $180–$420 all-in (parts + labor + the $89 diagnostic, which gets credited). Common jobs: defrost element ($180–$240), evaporator fan ($220–$300), start relay ($150–$200), water inlet valve ($200–$280). Compressor replacement runs $600–$1,000 and is usually the point where we tell you it's worth replacing the fridge.
My fridge is warm but the freezer is cold — what's wrong?
Nine times out of ten that's the evaporator fan motor on the freezer side, or a frosted-up evaporator coil because the defrost system failed (defrost heater, thermostat, or timer/board). Either repair runs $200–$320. We can usually diagnose it in 15 minutes.
When is a refrigerator not worth fixing?
If the compressor is bad and the fridge is over 10 years old, replace it. If a sealed-system refrigerant leak needs a recharge on a 5+ year fridge, replace it. Anything else — fan motors, control boards, defrost systems, ice makers, water valves — almost always worth fixing on a fridge under 12 years old.
Do you work on Sub-Zero, Viking, and other high-end brands?
Yes. Boards and compressors on Sub-Zero have longer parts lead times (5–10 days) and the diagnostic on those is more involved, so the bill runs higher than a standard Whirlpool — but it's almost always cheaper than replacing a $9,000 built-in.
How long does the repair take once you have the part?
Most repairs are 45–90 minutes once we're on site with the part. Sealed-system work (compressor, evaporator) takes 2–4 hours and we usually schedule that as a return visit.
